Catholic Social Services

Catholic Social Services has been a lifeline to families during the pandemic. The agency’s numerous food pantries, shelters, kitchens, and assistance programs met the pressing needs of challenged families by providing food, clothing, medications and rent assistance.

In addition, CSS aids individuals, families and veterans with counseling and support resources to help them prosper.

Permanent Supportive Housing, Carbondale

Catholic Social Services offers multiple housing options that provide safe, clean, well maintained housing units for people who are working to create a better life for themselves.

Lori Bowen, Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manager, told the story of James Judge.

“Through no fault of his own, James was homeless, living in his car, and had issues getting proper medical care before he first came to Saint Anthony’s Haven homeless shelter in Scranton and then resided at Saint Francis Commons for Veterans. Now James has his own apartment here in Carbondale and he’s thriving and self-sufficient. It’s not a handout. It’s a hand up.”
